How ByeFine works

Last updated 21 October 2026

ByeFine turns a parking ticket or penalty notice into a handled appeal in a few minutes. Trusted by over 2,000 road users. Here is what happens at each step.

1. Photograph the notice

A photo of one side of the notice is enough, or the PDF if it came by email. ByeFine reads who issued it, what kind of notice it is, the reference, the dates and the way to challenge it.

2. See your free verdict

Before you are asked for anything you see whether the notice is worth challenging, the grounds we would use, and the last day to challenge. The check is free, every time.

3. Go ahead for £6.99

If you go ahead, our AI writes the whole appeal in your name, then we check it against the notice and your answers before anything goes out. We file it with the issuer ourselves, through its own online form or the appeals address it publishes, so there is nothing for you to print or post. You pay once, for one notice, and you are refunded in full if we cannot file it, or cannot file it in time.

  • Written in your name
  • Written to say only what your notice shows and what you tell us
  • Asks for the charge to be cancelled in full
  • Asks the issuer for the evidence it relies on
  • Built to be filed once only
  • Filed for you by us: there is nothing for you to send (a police ticket is the exception: you send that letter yourself)

Police tickets (speeding, a red light, a phone, insurance and the like) are different: for £34.99 we write the letter and you send it yourself, because we cannot act for you with the police. The refund if we cannot file does not apply to them; you get your money back only if we cannot write the letter.

4. Follow it to the decision

Your case page shows where your appeal is, from the moment we read your notice to the issuer’s answer, and what comes next. If the issuer replies, we read it and tell you what it says.

  • They ask for more evidence. We tell you what they need, get it from you and send it to them. No extra charge.
  • They refuse. We take it to the independent adjudicator or appeals service, who decide it afresh. Free, once you say yes.
  • You see every step. Your account shows where your appeal is, from the moment we read your notice to their answer, and what comes next.
